Our Food

We are passionate about our food and spend a great deal of time choosing the best ingredients to go into our grilled cheese sandwiches.


We keep our menu varied by using seasonal ingredients and work with local suppliers to create exciting new recipes. Coming up with the name is sometimes the hard part!


Being based in the New Forest we have access to some wonderful local farmers and producers. We are proud to source many of our ingredients from local suppliers and this means we are able to be part of Hampshire Fare, a great organisation that promotes local produce.


We combine some of the delicious produce grown and made in the South to make our grilled cheese sandwiches taste amazing!


So what makes a Gourmet Grilled Cheese sandwich?


The Bread


All our sandwiches start with 2 slices of Artisan Sourdough bread, freshly baked for us every week.


We use sourdough because its strong flavour and dense texture means it forms the perfect deliciously tasty crust! 


The Cheese


We use specially selected award winning British cheeses in all our sandwiches including Lyburn Gold, Barbers 1833 Vintage Reserve Cheddar and Lubborn Somerset Brie.


Lyburn Gold is a wonderful local cheese, made by Lyburn Farmhouse Cheesemakers at their farm on the edge of the New Forest. It is ripened for about 10-14 weeks, and has a creamy smooth texture which makes it the perfect cheese for melting! 


As well as being downright delicious it is also award winning and has consistently won prizes at the British Cheese Awards.


Barbers 1833 Vintage Reserve Cheddar is made in Somerset by the Barber family using traditional starter cultures and always matured for at least 24 months. It is a deliciously creamy cheese with savoury and sweet notes.


Lubborn Somerset Brie is made at the Lubborn Creamery in Somerset. Their delicious brie is creamy with a mild, fresh flavour and a soft edible white rind. The curd is the colour of straw, and as it ripens from the outside in, it becomes softer, richer and with a fuller flavour.


The Meat


We are serious about our meat, we always use local suppliers when we can and are proud to say we use free range meat.


Our delicious free range pork products come from Ambrose Sausages, in Bishopstoke.  They farm rare breed pigs, and as well as their amazing sausages, they also produce and smoke their own delicious bacon.


The Vegetables & Salad


We try to keep our menu seasonal and when we can and we buy everything from local farmers and suppliers.


The Chutney


Parkside Produce in Rockbourne supply us with their delicious seasonal   homemade chutney at Christmas for The Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market. Their products taste amazing and we have seen them being made, so we know how much work goes into every jar!
